Friends For Hope
Friends for Hope is an organization of passionate individuals from Rio Grande Valley who are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children from our community suffering from cancer. Our mission is to raise funds for the Vannie E. Cook, Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic. Every dollar raised is donated to the Clinic and is used locally for direct patient care, to help the patients and their families, to support the clinic’s staff, and to raise awareness about the Clinic and the needs of the young patients it serves.
Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer Clinic is the region’s first state-of-the-art pediatric hematology/oncology clinic, it stands as the only comprehensive pediatric cancer treatment facility in South Texas. Their goal is to ensure patients receive the most up-to-date care and treatment, without the need to leave the region and regardless of ability to pay.
Since its inception in 2001, the Clinic has been a beacon of hope for over 12,000 families who have found the care they need right in their own backyard. Every dollar raised by Friends for Hope will be donated to the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic, where approximately 12,000 children from South Texas have been treated and not one has been turned away due to their inability to pay.

- Friends for Hope has donated almost $3 million dollars to The Vannie Cook Clinic since its inception.

- Friends for Hope hosts various events throughout the year in an effort to generate funds and promote community awareness, such as, the Annual Fall Benefit Concert and the Annual Bay Fishing Tournament.
- Thanks to your support, Friends for Hope hosts several special fun patient events throughout the year to help patients and their families during these trying times, including a Carnival in September and an Annual Christmas Party.
